Well, it's happened. Somewhere between the summer and the first semester of 1st grade - it happened.
T noticed a girl.
I started to notice a little more chatter on one particular girl in his class. It wasn't hard to recognize b/c it is the first time that he has REALLY started talking about a girl at all. Last year there was a cutie, but he would say ... "STOP! Mom, really. Stop - I don't like her".
So, we let it drop.
Well, it has all changed. I'm so worried his hormones have started b/c he drinks milk like water .... oh Lord have mercy on my soul.
So, a lot of my funny posts are of A.C. b/c she is really the one who provides me with the comic relief (stress) in my life. But I had the funniest conversation with T and Tommy the other day. Here is how it went.
Me: So, what is this about "Heather" (yes, she has a great name)? Do you like her?
T: Mom, most of the guys in the class like her.
Me: Really? Even Crawford? (His best friend)
T: YES! He likes her too!
Me: Is that ok that you both like the same girl?
T: YES! [this provided me some relief b/c if he was really serious, this would NOT be ok] We all have a crush on her!
Me: Really? (pause) So, what's a crush exactly?
T: I don't know!!!!!!! [he smiles SO big - face red as a tomato}
Fast forward 2 hours....
Tommy: So, T, what is this I hear about Heather?
T: I know dad! I know!
Tommy: So, what is so special about her? Why do you like her? Why do you have a crush on her?
T: Well, she has blond hair (grrrrrrrrrrrrr - people may say I have blond hair, but I pay for it) And, she does different things with it. Sometimes she does it like this (shows us) and sometimes she does it like this (shows us again)
Tommy: So, you like her hair? That's cool.
T: Yes! I know!
So, there are chases on the playground. The fact that she chose the same letter square to sit on with T yesterday at P.E. ... and the fact that her mom told me today -- "The class knows that SHE is HIS --- and I like that"
Ok, me too. As long as he still loves his mommy .... I'm fine with it.

Heather!!!! That's the most precious thing I think I've ever heard!! I can see him telling y'all about it and Tommy saying, "so, you like her hair, that's cool". I'm grinning from ear to ear - lucky to be on the boy's end of things. Chad's not going to be nearly so cool when Audg is crushed upon. ;)
Love you much!!

So that might make me want to cry a little! Can you imagine when our boys start DATING? Lawson has a little girl Anna Grace in his class and anytime we mention her, he gets all embarrassed and tries not to smile...well, Anna Grace sent home a love letter that she colored for Lawson the other day - I told him "As long as you only have kisses for mommy right now, then that's okay!"
Oh Heather!!! That is so sweet!!! I remember "going with" Chad Picklesimer (twin brother of Brad Picklesimer aka Brad Womack, last year's bachelor) in the 1st grade, and it meant we sat next to each other in reading group and chased each other on the playground.....those were the days!!
oh my goodness Heather! There are gonna be 'boy crazy' girls out there to start flirting on your boy- girls like . . . Christy!! Oh gosh, lock him up now :) (only kidding girls)
Heather Heaton!! That is the cutest thing I have ever heard!!!!! Wow! He is such a cutie, I bet all of the girls like him, too!
I look forward to these adorable talks with my boys, and I will echo your little (grrrrrr...) at the same time.
Too Cute!!
Hugs and love,
Bek
I was expecting him to say, "Well, she has a Playstation 3" then he gives a pretty good answer as to why he likes her. Blonde hair, knows what to do with it. I can't argue with that logic.
Heather forgot to tell that she asked for his phone number. No calls yet.
Well, blondes DO have more fun! Heath, may I remind you... Tucker is the age where I started kissing Jeffrey Klein in the bathroom at DCA!:) heehee...
